McGaw Park Master Plan

posted Apr 21, 2011, 1:21 PM by Oak Meadow Administration

Hello Fitchburg Residents and Park Users,

This is an update on the McGaw Park master planning project and a thank you to all who attended the March 24th Visioning Session or submitted a survey.   We appreciate your participation and input.

The McGaw Park Visioning Session had a good turnout, with 26 people in attendance (not including staff).  Staff learned a lot from citizens about their concerns and ideas for McGaw Park through an issues and opportunities exercise and a related survey that was available at the meeting and electronically.  A summary of the exercise and survey results are now available at the project website, along with a video of the meeting.  The public input gathered thus far is reflected in the draft Goals, Objectives, and Policies of the McGaw Park Master Plan.  The Goals, Objectives, and Policies will aid staff in developing master plan alternatives (i.e. different options for park layout) for McGaw Park.

Upcoming Meetings and Participation Opportunities

In May, there will be additional public participation opportunities. At the May 5th Park Commission meeting, the draft Goals, Objectives, and Policies will be discussed.  These items will then be approved by the Park Commission at a special meeting on May 19th.   Anyone is welcome to attend these meetings.  Citizens are also encouraged to attend the McGaw Park Tour on May 19th to learn more about the park.  See below for meeting details.

Park Commission Meeting- Thursday, May 5th, 7 PM, City Hall (Meeting Room)

McGaw Park Tour- Thursday, May 19th, 6 PM, McGaw Park (meet at the shelter)

Park Commission Meeting- Thursday, May 19th, 7 PM, Community Center (Fitchburg Room)
